13.06.03-Sun.Peaks

Sun Peaks offers a one-of-a-kind BC golf vacation opportunity with the greens located at 1,200 metres above sea level, making the Golf Course at Sun Peaks Resort British Columbia's highest elevation course.  Surrounded by natural foliage and panoramic mountain views, the challenging 18-hole par 72 Graham Cooke design is centered along the valley floor amongst the three surrounding mountains, Tod, Sundance, and Morrisey. The 6,400 yard course offers risk and reward opportunities intended to appeal to every level of golfer. Bonuses of the higher elevation is that your ball flies longer, plus, the higher mountain air provides for cooler summer days; Sun Peaks is often 10 degrees cooler than Kamloops.

This year’s event, beginning on Saturday, August 10th in the evening with an informal meet and greet opportunity up at Sun Peaks will kick off an outstanding opportunity for our industry and superintendents to network. Our new format, starting on Sunday morning at 9:00 will feature a Superintendent Panel featuring some of our best superintendents from each region in our province. This session, running from 9:00 to 12:00 will focus on several important topics in golf course management that superintendents face in their management programs. Topics will include, among others, Nutrition, Cultural Management Programs, Disease Management and Equipment Use to get the job done. This interactive session will be eligible for CEC points and provide those attending a broad cross section of expertise from some of our industries finest superintendents.

Following the education portion of our Sunday program an outdoor barbecue will kick off an afternoon of information exchange, networking opportunities and recreation. Beginning at one o’clock, the afternoon program begins with an opportunity for our industry partners to showcase their products and equipment with a hands-on approach. Sun Peaks Superintendent Keith Lyall will have portions of his property available for our industry participants to showcase their products. This innovative session will provide Exchange participants the opportunity to operate equipment and witness demonstrations of some of the newest tools and products available in today’s market. Following the field day portion of the Exchange program at 3:30 a nine hole golf event and barbecue featuring a horse race or scramble is being planned for everyone to warm up for Monday’s golf.
