Message from the 2019 Conference Organizing Committee

WCTA 56th Annual Conference & Trade Show
River Rock Casino Resort, Richmond, BC
Feb 20-22, 2019

Welcome back to BC’s largest casino, the one-of-a-kind River Rock Resort and Show Theatre in Richmond, British Columbia and the backdrop for our 56th Annual Conference and Trade Show.

The decision to return to the River Rock in 2019 was easy and pretty much preordained by all those who stayed to the end last year when we asked if we should come back.  The answer was an overwhelming yes!

Carrying forward the spirit and excitement from last year, we present a world class education program and fun-filled networking events while 50+ companies are exhibiting in the most diverse turf management industry trade show in western Canada.

Our education theme, ‘Protect Your Natural Capital’, is a way to think about the importance of recreational assets in our communities, like golf courses, sportsfields, parks, bowling greens and anywhere there is managed turf.  Like our natural resources, these facilities are valuable and need to be looked after.  By direct relationship, those who manage these assets are valuable and important as well!

To help make you better at what you do, we’ve brought in a wide range of speakers and presenters, 28 in total, delivering 44 and a half hours of education and updates over our three days at the River Rock.  This issue of the Turf Line News will act as your on-site show program so keep it close.  It’s full of event details including education and social function schedules, exhibitor list and tradeshow floorplan, speaker biographies, registration desk hours and more.

Enjoy and take full advantage of your time in Richmond.  We would like to thank the hard work of our organizing committee made up of BCGSA representatives Warren Blue and Paul Robertson, KPU Professor Stan Kazymerchyk and several of our WCTA Directors.  Thanks also to local contacts Steve May from Mayfair Lakes Golf Course and Ted De Crom from the City of Richmond.  We’re being welcomed back to their turf with open arms and we look forward to another great event at this extraordinary venue!
