Great Support for Pat Dooley Endowment Golf Tournament

15.10.14-KPU.Turf.Club.logoPatrick Dooley was son of former KPU Faculty Steve Dooley. Pat excelled at sports and especially loved golf.  He hoped to enroll in KPU's Turf Management Diploma program upon high school graduation. He passed away at the age of 16 on February 5, 2008 after a short illness.

Pat's parents started building a Scholarship Endowment Fund in Pat's honour.  Kwantlen Turf Club students offered to organize a golf tournament to raise money to complete this to endowment level.  This was truly a 'Polytechnic' endeavour involving turf and business students, faculty, turf management industry, alumni and the Dooley family.

On Friday, April 8, a sunny, warm day greeted 80 golfers to a great day of scrambe golf at Mayfair Lakes Golf Club in Richmond, followed by a full buffet dinner.  The Dooley family's warm presentation about Patrick's life ended a perfect day.

Many generous donations, tee sponsorships and golf prize contributions were made from KPU, Dooley family connetions and the turf management world.  The net result was the event reaching its financial goals.
