Governor Declares May as "Golf Month"

Gov. Jay Inslee signed a proclamation Wednesday declaring May to be “Washington Golf Month” in a ceremony in Olympia surrounded by key members of the golf community.

The Golf Alliance of Washington was the driving force behind the efforts to enhance the visibility of golf in the state. Both the Western Washington Golf Course Superintendents Association and the Inland Empire Golf Course Superintendents Association are major players in the Golf Alliance of Washington.

In conjunction with the signing of the proclamation, the Golf Alliance released its latest Economic Impact Study for the state of Washington. Nearly 22,500 jobs in the state are supported by the golf industry, resulting in nearly a half billion dollars in wages.
