Robin Sadler Earns Master Superintendent® Designation
May 22, 2012
The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) is pleased to announce that Robin Sadler has fulfilled all of the requirements to be named a Master Superintendent® by the CGSA. Mr. Sadler joins an elite group of golf course managers across the country that has successfully met the standards established by our profession to achieve this honour.
In addition to an exam, a Master Superintendent® is required to fulfil experience and educational prerequisites and be a member of CGSA. The CGSA Accreditation Program requires Robin to recertify every five years to ensure that he is retaining the skills needed by a Master Superintendent. The program requirements are based on a set of occupational standards that have been identified by the profession. These standards are recognized as being a comprehensive identification of the skills and abilities necessary to manage a golf facility. The standards include a basic an intermediate and an advanced level for each identified skill. The Master Superintendent designation is based on the advanced skill level. Robin has spent 21 years in the turfgrass industry with the last 15 being at Silvertip Resort. ``My career is highlighted by Silvertip Resort becoming an Audubon Certified Cooperative Sanctuary in 2008, winning the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America / Golf Digest International Environmental Leaders in Golf award in 2008, achieving Accredited Golf Course Superintendent status in 2009, being recognized by National Geographic in 2011 as one of the top environmental golf courses in the world, and now achieving Master Superintendent status with the Canadian Golf superintendents Association``, said Robin. Mr. Sadler noted that he has been very fortunate to have worked under the tutelage of Marc Lilley and Wade Horrocks while having a fantastic team at Silvertip Resort. Robin sends a very special thank you out to his loving wife Laura, son Serres, and daughter Gabby and to Mr. Lilley and Mr. Horrocks and all his Silvertip team as well as to Bob Burrows, MS, CGCS, Superintendent, Fairmont Banff Spring Golf Course for their ongoing support.
