2015 Robert W. Sheard Scholarship Application

14.05.28-STC.logoSports Turf Canada now accepting applications for the Robert W. Sheard Scholarship. Deadline for submissions is May 30, 2015.

Sports Turf Canada is dedicated to the promotion of better, safer sports turf through innovation, education and professional programs. In order to further this goal and to encourage, support and provide leadership to those considering a career in the sports turf industry, STC established a scholarship program in 1993 and has since awarded 31 scholarships. The STC Robert W. Sheard Scholarship ($1,000) may be awarded annually. The scholarship program is funded through association membership fees. The award is intended to assist students with the cost of tuition, books and related expenses.

New Face of the Sports Turf Association

12.11.17-sta.logo.small copyAt the recent annual general meeting, members of Sports Turf Association Inc. (Sports Turf Association) voted to continue the provincial not-for-profit corporation into the federal jurisdiction. The result? Updated letters patent, revised and updated governing by-laws, and the introduction of a now Canada-wide organization. As part of this renewal process the Sports Turf Association intends to become known as Sports Turf Canada and has registered it as a trade style name.

Sports Turf Canada Announces 2014 Sports Turf Manager of the Year

Guelph, ON – Sports Turf Canada is pleased to announce that Ray Stukas is the 2014 Sports Turf Manager of the Year.

The Sports Turf Manager of the Year award is a prestigious honour which recognizes an individual’s professional ability and contribution to the Canadian sports turf industry and shows appreciation for his or her proactive and progressive efforts within the profession.

Township Of Langley To Host 2013 WCTA/STA West Coast Sportsfield Training Day

13.05.29-training.day1The Sports Turf Association (STA), Canada’s national sports turf manager’s group, in partnership with the Western Canada Turfgrass Association (WCTA), is sanctioning the first ever Sports Turf Field Day held west of Ontario.

The STA has hosted an annual day-long educational and tradeshow event for the past 25 years, all of which have been held in various Ontario locations.  The exception was 2011, where an effort to support Atlantic sports turf managers saw the STA deliver an additional field day in Moncton, New Brunswick.
