Speaker Schedule Set for NTA Conference
The schedule of speakers and topics is all set for the 70th annual conference of the Northwest Turfgrass Association, set for Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon.
Dr. Cale Bigelow, a professor of horticulture for turf science and ecology at Purdue University, will lead the educational sessions, with one talk on “Cultivation and Top-Dressing Programs” and another on “Bentgrass Cultivars.”
Joining Dr. Bigelow will be Jeff Mingay, a golf course architect based in Toronto who has been involved in numerous high-level restoration projects of classic golf courses in the Northwest and Western Canada. His presentations will be “The Modern Bunker: Expectations vs. Reality” and “Building a Strong Architect-Superintendent Relationship.”
Also on tap for the two mornings of educational sessions will be presentations by Dr. Alec Kowalewski of Oregon State University, Larry Gilhuly of the USGA and Dr. William Johnston of Washington State University.
For a complete schedule for the three-day conference, follow this link: http://www.nwturfgrass.net/pages/conference/schedule-and-education.html
The annual conference this year will have a low registration price of $595, which includes lodging for two nights, two rounds of golf, the educational sessions and all meals from Sunday night to Tuesday morning.
For the online registration form, follow this link:
The $595 rate is based on double occupancy, and the accommodations at Bandon Dunes are set up perfectly for double-occupancy for golf-buddy road trips. If you don’t have someone in mind to be your roommate, go ahead and fill out the registration form anyway and Paul Ramsdell, the executive director of the NTA, will help set up your lodging arrangements.
Western Equipment/TurfStar has agreed to be the leading corporate sponsor for the 2016 conference and the NTA would like to thank them for their support and friendship.
Other sponsorships are still available, and the breakdown of opportunities is available by following this link: http://www.nwturfgrass.net/pages/conference/sponsorship-levels.html
Any questions on the conference or on sponsorship can be directed to Paul Ramsdell at email@example.com or 253-219-8360.
