A Note to our Industry Suppliers

01 01_11_ipm_logoIn an effort to increase our BC Pesticide Applicator Certificate continuing education credit opportunities, the WCTA is encouraging suppliers of all kinds to consider putting on your own seminars.

Industry run seminars are not a new idea however many of you may be unaware that these can qualify for CEC credits.  There are many obvious examples of talks that would qualify, ie. how proper turf nutrition reduces the need for plant protectants, but there are many examples that may not be so obvious, ie. how an automated irrigation system that controls water better reduces disease incidence, or how sharp mower blades reduces disease incidence, or how a certain cultural practice reduces disease incidence and so on.

Of course, final approval for any seminar needs to come from the Ministry of Environment but I can say that MOE is very open to industry lead training.  The caveat is that the seminar must be educational in nature and not a sales pitch for a specific product.

More information on the CEC program can be found at http://www.wcta-online.com/component/k2/item/357?Itemid=176

NOTE: You must apply for CEC points at least 2 weeks prior to your event to allow for processing.

NOTE2: There are some responsibilities that come with CEC points, ie. ensuring sign-in sheets get back to us in a timely manner.
