New Year, New Plan - WCTA Board Unveils Strategic Planning ‘One Pager’

By Jerry Rousseau

After a very lengthy and productive strategic planning session this past November and following multiple revisions, adjustments and tweaks, the WCTA Board of Directors unveiled its new strategic planning primer at the 2025 Annual General Meeting held February 12 at the River Rock Casino Resort.

Immediate Past President Stu Carmichael stated, “We went to work on this knowing that our direction has been well thought out and executed but has never been completely formalized.”  He added, “There’s now an easy to read visual representation of what the WCTA is all about and where it’s headed.”

Current WCTA President Nathan Wade said in his opening message to members, “Our organization is built on key strategic principles that guide our efforts and aspirations. These strategic principles include: drive cutting edge research, enhance professional development in our industry, advocate for the benefits of turf to our communities and to work toward continued growth and operational efficiency of our organization.”

These pillars are reflected in the one page mission/vision statement, complementing the WCTA’s mandate of ‘Research, Education, Networking and Advocacy’.  Executive Director Jerry Rousseau stated, ‘It’s well and good to have a mandate but it’s important to outline how to get there.  This new document is the missing piece and will help guide the association for many years to come – great job WCTA Directors!”
