WCTA Joins Alberta Turfgrass Research Foundation

by WCTA staff

At the first meeting of the new 2024/2025 WCTA Board and while reviewing the Research Committee’s recommendations for 2024 project funding, a motion was made and carried to support the Alberta Turfgrass Research Foundation through a $5000 association membership.

Administered by Past WCTA President and Olds College Turf Management Instructor, Jason Pick, the ATRF had solicited the WCTA to join last year however funds remained a limiting factor post-Covid.

WCTA Executive Director Jerry Rousseau commented, “A successful 2023 conference and fiscal year, a very good Victoria conference and a recent contribution from last year’s Pat Dooley Tournament provided the Board a lot more flexibility with allocating funds than it’s had over the past few years.”  He added, “On a semi-related note, the student award funding for 2024 is almost back to pre-pandemic levels as well.”

The ATRF value proposition speaks for itself:

“Association membership includes a quarterly research report, access to all research reports funded by ATRF and the Canadian Turfgrass Research Foundation, discounted turf disease diagnostic services and consulting rates extended throughout their association, and complimentary speaking engagements by ATRF Executive Director, Jason Pick with options including pesticide recertification CEU’s and many professional topics.”

Further information will be circulated upon formalization of our ATRF membership.
