Hard-to-Get CEC's Pre-Conference Seminar

Choose this pre-conference seminar if you need pesticide applicator CEC's/CEU's for BC or Alberta.

Focusing on the harder to get point categories, this session takes place Tuesday, February 11th from 12:30pm to 4:30pm and technically, you dont even have to take part in the rest of the conference (although that would be kind of dumb, wouldn't it?).  At any rate, keep reading for more details...

Mario Lanthier has been a popular speaker at WCTA, CGSA, ISA and other conferences over the years, and has been teaching the BC Pesticide Applicator Certificate course at the WCTA conference since 2003. He has been working in the horticulture industry since 1980 and his company, CropHealth Advising and Research, offers consulting services and pest management recommendations with or without pesticides.

This in-depth session offers four CEC's/CEU's in the more difficult to obtain Application Technology and Safety and Environmental Protection categories. Topics covered will be Pesticide label wording, factors affecting the use of pesticides, first-aid and spill clean-up.

Details (especially for Alberta):
The 4-hour session is split in 2 parts of 2 hours each (with a break in between). The same topics are covered in both session first as exercises in small teams, then as a contest for the whole room. Time is split fairly even among the following 5 topics:

  - Using fungicides (modes of action of different products, also resistance management)
  - Using herbicides (modes of action of different products, phytotoxicity, glyphosate resistance)
  - Using rodenticides (modes of action of different products, also impact on wildlife)
  - Personal safety (routes of exposure to pesticides, first aid for pesticide exposure)
