What's the big deal this year? Bos Sod Farms was awarded the contract to grow the 2026 World Cup sod to be installed at BC Place Stadium. Of the 16 match locations, Vancouver is one of only two in Canada and will host 7 games between June 13 and July 7, 2026.
Plans include a morning education program, lunch, outdoor trade show with 25+ product and service suppliers expected along with inter-active supplier demonstration and fun activity stations. Here's the 'very World Cup focussed' event outline:
"We have not held the fall field day at a sod farm since before my time," stated WCTA Executive Director, Jerry Rousseau, adding, "Bert and his family are very enthusiastic hosts and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for turf managers to see, touch and feel the 2026 FIFA World Cup grass in its natural habitat."
