Leading Women in Turf

Turf & Rec is looking to honour four women from the turf industry who best fit the title of “Leading Women in Turf.”

Nominations are now open and will close on Dec. 29, 2024. We are looking for candidates who best meet the following criteria:

- Expertise and knowledge of the industry, including agronomy and people management
- Leadership and innovation skills, including contributions that benefit their company and association(s) and their ability to mentor others
- Professional achievement, including successful projects and awards
- Community involvement, including achievements outside the workplace

Note: Self-nominations are accepted. Previous Women in Turf honourees are ineligible.

Meet the judges
Morgan Creighton, is a former assistant superintendent at Woodside Golf Course in Airdrie, Alta. and the founder of a program that mentors women entering the industry. In September, she moderated a panel discussion of “Leading Women in Turf” at the Turf & Rec Show in Calgary.

Dr. Sara Stricker, is the communications co-ordinator at the Guelph Turfgrass Institute and is a past honouree selected as one of Turf & Rec’s “Leading Women in Turf.”

Karen Rumohr is a plant nutrition specialist, working for Shuttle 14 Inc. in Edmonton. She had previously worked as both an assistant superintendent and superintendent at various Alberta golf courses. Prior to her current role, she was the superintendent at Woodside Golf Course in Airdrie.
