Canadian Golf Industry Sees Exceptional Rounds Played in July
via NGCOA
Ottawa, ON – August 27, 2025 – The National Golf Course Owners Association Canada (NGCOA Canada) has released its latest monthly research findings, revealing national year-to-date (YTD) rounds up 8.7% year-over-year (YoY) and an impressive 38% over 2019.
These results reflect not only the strong demand for golf, but also the ability of Canadian operators to deliver experiences that keep golfers returning to the course.
July marks the fourth consecutive month of positive growth for rounds played, finishing up 9.1% YoY for the month. Favorable weather conditions in much of the country played a key role in driving this activity, with significantly drier-than-normal conditions in several regions reducing weather-related closures. Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Ottawa each received just over half of their usual July rainfall, while Halifax saw only one-third. This dry weather translated into more playable days and supported YoY gains across Atlantic Canada and Ontario.
In contrast, Alberta faced one of its rainiest Julys on record, with Calgary recording 172 mm of rainfall compared to a historical average of 66 mm. Despite the above-average precipitation and a regional weather score of 6.0 (the only area to fall below 7), Alberta still posted the highest monthly average at 6,324 rounds per facility; 11% above the national average.
