Japanese Beetle Flight Season Has Begun – Stay Alert!

With temperatures consistently reaching 21°C and above, the Japanese beetle flight season has officially started!

From June 15th to October 15th the beetles will take flight to seek out their favourite plants (400 different species) or a mate. Although they are unlikely to be seen while at low population numbers this early in the season, keep your eyes on your flowers, trees, or vegetable gardens where they may be seen snacking.

Japanese beetles measure about one centimeter in length and are easily recognizable by the 12 tufts of white hair along the abdomen, their metallic green head and body, and copper-brown wing covers. If you happen to come across these insects, be sure to report them right away!
