Japanese Beetle Flight Season is Underway - Stay Aware!
Japanese beetle flight season is well underway until October 15th. As it has been a month since the start of flight season, sightings are now more likely with July's consistently warm temperatures and increased sunshine.

Keep an eye out for a one-centimeter-long beetle with:
• a metallic green head
• copper brown wing covers
• six tufts of white hair along each side of the abdomen. This is the most defining feature of Japanese beetles - no other beetle in B.C. has it!
Report any suspects to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) by calling 604-292-5742 OR email BCPF.Japanese.beetle@inspection.gc.ca
You can use our updated Look-Alikes Factsheet to help identify what insects you may have found. Remember to take a photo and note down where you discovered it to help us record sightings!
