2022 WCTA Student Award Winner Announced

Every year, the WCTA sets aside up to $2500 for deserving students enrolled in an accredited Turfgrass Management program.

We would like to thank all five 2022 applicants for their submissions; it’s good to know the turf management industry has a very bright future indeed!

Congratulations to Fedja Muzur, KPU Turf Management, who took this year’s top honour and with it, receives a $500 award and complimentary one-year WCTA membership.

Thank you to the WCTA for choosing me as the 2022 WCTA Student Award Recipient.  In my short time in the golf industry ,  have already met a ton of wonderful friends, mentors and in general great people.  What’s stood out for me the most about this industry is just how friendly and helpful everyone is to each other.  Everyone I have met has helped me in one way or another and has been willing to share their experiences and knowledge with me.  Going back to school at the age of 30 and not knowing exactly what the future would hold was tough, but it was the best decision I’ve ever made.  I have found my true passion and am looking forward to my career in the turf industry.  I want to say Thank you to Steve, Rob, Sean and Ryan at Northlands Golf Course for being such great mentors and teaching me how to be a true professional, to Stan for convincing me to get into this program and being an amazing teacher, the rest of my professors, the WCTA and the turf family in general.  I look forward to meeting you all at some future events.

We would like to take a moment to thank our tireless award committee members, Chair Peter Sorokovsky, Dave Duncan, Kevin Neufeld and Scott Mitchell, for making the time to assist with this year’s selections.
