Jacobsen Announces Turf Scholarships
Jacobsen, a manufacturer of high-quality turf maintenance equipment used in the golf and sports turf management industries, announced April 2 that they will be providing over 30 scholarships to those pursuing a 2 yr. or 4 yr. degree in Turf Management or other related discipline such as Horticulture or Greenspace Management.
Amanda Bostian of Jacobsen stated, "We look forward to supporting the education of future turfgrass managers," and after being asked, confirmed the awards would be available in Canada.
Scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded to one student in each of the Jacobsen sales territories. To be eligible for consideration, students must:
• Be enrolled full time in a Turfgrass Management (or other related discipline) program, pursuing a 2 year Associate’s degree or a 4 year Bachelor’s degree.
• Be entering the final year of their degree program.
• Submit an application with all information provided, including a short essay.
• Provide contact information for two professional references.
• Provide one letter of recommendation. The letter of recommendation may be written by one of the references listed on the application.
• Submit all materials by May 1, 2012 to Amanda Bostian at abostian@textron.com.
Application forms have been forwarded to several Canadian Institutions. Deadline for submissions is May 1, 2012.
