City of Calgary Pest Management Policy - External Stakeholder Review

Hello,

Earlier this month, I circulated a link to you for a What We Heard report containing anonymous feedback from external stakeholders on The City’s pest management program. The content of that report has helped inform the current draft of the policy, which will ultimately revise the current Integrated Pest Management Plan (CSPS017). Please find attached the latest draft of the document containing the policy. Descriptive details of such are contained within the document.

The document contains the following principles:

• Make science-based decisions and actions
• Engage citizens and stakeholders
• Prioritize human health and ecosystem health objectives
• Be adaptable and accountable

The principles will become the policy statements in the pest management policy. You’ll note in the document that each Principle is informed by Result statements and accompanying Strategies. This structure embeds an implementation framework into the policy, thus increasing its accountability to Council and Calgarians.

We are open to receiving feedback on all content within the document. However, we ask that you pay particular attention to the “Priority” column of the table. We ask that you submit a priority (e.g., low, medium, high) for each strategy, and rationale supporting your priority choice. By ranking each strategy, we ensure that stakeholders help determine priorities in The City’s pest management program.

The City is committed to ensuring stakeholder feedback meaningfully informs policy changes. Your input will be carefully considered as the pest management policy is revised. 

Please submit to me any feedback you might have by end of day, January 14.
