Hello All: 

I hope this email finds you well.

In the past month we have had some significant progress on the construction of the GTI and we are excited to report that it is highly likely the GTI and our partners will be able to move to the new Frost Centre before the grass starts growing in 2021. The city of Guelph has finally green lighted the last significant regulatory hurdle. There is still significant work to determine the details of how our partners will utilize the Frost Centre particularly those groups who share space in the Frost Centre.

Those involved in this process know that it has been a very long process to get to this point. Soon we will be moving to a wonderful building that will support teaching, outreach and research. We hope that things turn around and 2021 and the new facility can be a place for the industry to gather and map its future.

Cam Shaw Named New Manager of the Diploma in Turfgrass Management Program

We are pleased to announce that Cam Shaw has been named as the new Manager of the Diploma in Turfgrass Management (DTM) program at the University of Guelph and the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, Ontario.  Formerly in the role of GTI Communications and Outreach Coordinator, Cam brings over 20 years of experience working in the turf industry across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Stephen Fleischauer, the current DTM Manager will be retiring at the end of December 2020. 

"I am extremely excited and honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the University of Guelph's Diploma in Turfgrass Management program into the next chapter of its story.  As an alumnus of the program, I bring a unique perspective to the role which I believe will help to improve the student experience and strengthen the already robust curriculum of learning. I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence in education the U of G and OAC have come to be known for.  I am also looking forward to working alongside the Candian turfgrass industry to foster awareness in turf related careers and raising the profile of this wonderful profession."
