Hot in the City, Especially on Synthetic Fields

By WCTA staff

One important but often undersold benefit of actively managed turf has been highlighted by the unprecedented and inescapable heat wave being experienced in western Canada.  That is, a turf system’s cooling effect of the surrounding air as the grass transpires.

Here’s a reading from RC Garnett Park in the Township of Langley, BC, from Friday, June 25th; the high that day was 33C.

Now take a look at a reading from a few minutes earlier of the synthetic turf field at Willoughby Community Park, 1.5 km south.

Any questions?
