Japanese Beetle Flight Period Ends October 15th; Soil Restrictions Still in Effect
As the weather cools, Japanese beetle begins to move back underground. The Japanese beetle flight period, starting in mid-June, ends on October 15th. This means movement restrictions for green waste in the Japanese beetle regulated areas end this week.
Soil, and plants with attached soil, from the within the Japanese beetle regulated areas is restricted year-round. A movement certificate is still required for these articles to be removed from the regulated areas.
Despite the flight period ending, this does not mean Japanese beetle is not still above ground. Continue to watch for beetles and report any suspects!
