New Japanese Beetle Detections Outside of the Regulated Area

Via BCLNA

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has reported a low number (<10) of Japanese beetles outside of the current regulated areas, in the Cities of Kamloops and Abbotsford, BC.  The appropriate stakeholders have been contacted and the situation is being monitored.

All professionals operating in and around the Japanese Beetle regulated areas should remain up to date on the current guidelines, which have been in place since May, 2023:

Until further notice, the CFIA is restricting the movement of plants with soil, soil-related matter, and/or growing media attached from inside of a regulated area due to the risk that it may be infested with Japanese Beetle (Popilla japonica).

A CFIA-issued movement certificate is required to take plants with soil, soil-related matter, and/or growing media attached outside of a Japanese Beetle regulated area. Contact the CFIA at BCPF.Japanese.Beetle@inspection.gc.ca or 604-292-5742 to report a beetle sighting or to get your movement certificate today!
