Anyone who maintains or relies on irrigation systems, will understand the many challenges faced when requesting more resources for those systems. Explaining where a system is failing and the urgency of upgrades does not always resonate when the site being irrigated appears (from a cursory glance) to be fine.
The ministry recognizes that we are facing rapidly changing situations as we cope with the effects of COVID-19 in our province. Everyone in B.C. must follow the orders and directives issued by the provincial health officer to protect public health and it is recognized it could have impacts on the day-to-day operations of regulated activities under the Integrated Pest Management Act.

On May 1, Stage 1 water restrictions came into force automatically throughout the Metro-Vancouver area. Similar restrictions are implemented in various municipalities across the province.

Two comprehensive Best Practices documents have been created in support of professional sports turf managers working through the COVID-19 outbreak. The first, published by the Allied Golf Association of British Columbia (AGA-BC) on April 20 and updated April 29, covers clubhouse/pro shop operations, food and beverage and turf care for golf courses while the second, posted today by the Western Canada Turfgrass Association (WCTA), focusses on operational challenges of sportsfield managers and personnel.
