CanWest Hort Expo's Education Program Features Talented Speakers from Across North America

14.04.03-BCLNA.logoBC Landscape and Nursery Association has announced its education program happening at CanWest Horticulture Expo in September. This year's lineup includes speakers from the around British Columbia and North America and takes place from September 27-29th at Tradex in Abbotsford.

This year's education program includes dynamic sessions, power clinics, and information symposiums which focus on topics relevant to the horticulture industry. The speakers will be covering topics such as invasive species, rain gardens, rain water harvesting systems, new tree bylaws, colour theory, internet marketing, and merchandising. The sessions offer registrants the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units from International Society of Arboriculture and the Pesticide Applicator Re-Certification Program. Guest speakers include Owen Dell, Richard Hallman, Linda Cahan, Sean James, Kerry Ann Mendez, among others.

New this year is a stone walling workshop exclusive for women. Instructed by Master Craftsman Brian Fairfield, from Main Stonework, the stone walling workshop uses age old techniques to cover the basics of building traditional dry stone walls. Over the past 10 years, Brian has studied with master level craftsmen domestically and internationally. He also holds an advanced certificate and instructor's certificate with the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain.

Aside from the workshop exclusive for women, Brian will also be teaching a Stone Fire Pit workshop that is open to both men and women.
