An Amazing Day in the District of North Vancouver

Not to take away from previous efforts, but it’s really hard to recollect an event that went off as well as the 2023 BC Turf Management Field Day held Thursday September 21st at Inter River Park and Jaycee House in the District of North Vancouver.

Amazing weather is always welcome at outdoor events - the sun brings out the smiles, and along with an outstanding venue, a five-star lunch and top tier education program, things came together just as we had hoped/planned.

Of course, accolades and thanks must be conveyed to our tremendous hosts, Nick Barbour and Darryl Jackson at the District of North Vancouver, along with their entire turf team whose efforts and keen enthusiasm shaped the day.

Set in 2017, the Township of Langley’s field day attendance record still stands but it was very close and our 175 person delegation got to see how things are done at the DNV.  There were a lot of nice touches, too many too list, but all were noticed and appreciated.

Originally, our closest to the pin competition wasn’t going to include North Shore Rescue’s Talon aircraft.

A literal show stopper, the Talon aircraft landing and briefing by Mike Danks was a huge hit!

There was some pretty cool turf stuff too😀!

For sure the very best image from the event – a very shiny, happy DNV crew that we could not have done this without😀!!!

So thank-you Nick, Darryl, Steffanie, Nai and the entire DNV team, our speakers, Mike Danks from North Shore Rescue and Egan Davis of the City of Richmond, trade show vendors and demonstrators (see list below), activity stations hosts Rylan Barbour and Sean Dunster, Smoke and Bones catering, Kevin the sound guy and last but certainly not least, Dave Duncan and Dan Lefler for our live sprayer calibration demonstration.  The sum total was a super-successful BC Turf Management Field Day that could not have been any better!
