Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to say a quick congratulations to Travis from the Kamloops Golf & Country Club and Jim Ross from Olds College for taking the time to volunteer to stand for election at our AGM and to have been elected to those positions from amongst your peers. I feel I can speak for the whole board welcome!! We truly feel that with your fresh opinions and thoughts, together we can accomplish some very great things in the not so distant future! We truly welcome your commitment and involvement.
So you all know, I have sent a personal note to Brett Finlayson thanking him for his valued time and commitment to our association. Brett represented the WCTA with integrity, honour and honesty. He always believed that he had to do what was in the best interest of the association and followed that belief.
That integrity was recognized in how close the vote was, 1 vote! To stand up for what you believe in front of your peers with the possibility of not acquiring the vote is exceptionally admirable. It is my personal belief that democracy and transparency were upheld on the part of the association and for that we should all be proud. Brett has much to be proud of and I know we will be seeing some amazing things from him in the near future!
Leaving our board are 3 other members who have grown and advanced in so many ways, I will start with Garrett Squire. Thank you Garrett, your contribution has been amazing, your thought process always clear and your participation in whatever was asked from you unwavering. The mechanics day was truly amazing, we heard nothing but great things. As well, your contribution to every meeting came with insight and thought, your contribution to the amalgamation committee was direct and insightful.
Next, Mike Schellenberg, your commitment has been truly beneficial. You have done an exceptional job of representing the Sports-turf industry in Western Canada. Your contribution to the amalgamation committee was very important as the voices of the sports turf industry were well represented. Being from Alberta makes it that much more of a commitment, your work with SATA and desire too reach out will definitely assist our association in being representative
Finally, Brett Lamontagne, your contribution to the WCTA has been truly wonderful. Balancing a very active business with serving on our board must have been truly challenging but that never stopped you from contributing at any chance you could. Your insight into what happens on the "Island" has been very beneficial in helping us develop regional strategies. Thank you Brett!!
We the Board of Directors, wish for all of you success in the future and look forward to a time when you can get involved again!
Sincerely,
Trevor Smith
