Message from the President - Early Season 2024
Dear WCTA Members,
I hope this message finds you well. On a personal note, I am thrilled to share that I have recently been promoted to Acting Manager of Parks at the City of Courtenay. The transition into this new role has kept me incredibly busy, and for that reason, I apologize for the delay in sending this President’s message.
Reflecting on our February conference in Victoria, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our delegates, trade show exhibitors and sponsors, speakers, volunteers, production staff, venue staff, Directors, and the Organizing Committee. Your collective efforts made our 60th anniversary celebration a resounding success!
As the season progresses, I’m pleased to report that the WCTA Board and staff remain dedicated to serving our members and advancing the professional turf management industry. We are actively addressing provincial regulatory restrictions on water usage, advocating for updates to the IPM Manual for Turf Managers, and engaging in dialogue with Health Canada PMRA to understand their recent compliance messaging to BC golf courses. Additionally, our member directory has been completed and mailed out—a significant project in itself. And here's a sneak peek: an exciting new event partnership for the fall field day is being announced in this very e-newsletter.
You can stay updated on all WCTA activities by visiting www.wcta-online.com and through our ongoing e-newsletters and Turf Line News magazine. If you’re not yet a WCTA member, I encourage you to explore the many benefits of joining our community. There truly is strength in numbers.
In closing, I want to express my deepest appreciation for your unwavering support, dedication, and passion. It is your commitment that continues to drive the success of our association.
Warm regards,
Stu Carmichael
WCTA President
