The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has reported a low number (<10) of Japanese beetles outside of the current regulated areas, in the Cities of Kamloops and Abbotsford, BC. The appropriate stakeholders have been contacted and the situation is being monitored.

In a recent and very interesting conversation with Emily Elsliger, Assistant Water Manager at the British Columbia Ministry of Environment, (BC MOE), I was told one of the Ministry’s main concerns is the unauthorized use of surface and ground water.
Now over a month into flight season, beetles are on the move, actively seeking mates and nourishment from their preferred plants, which include over 300 different species such as roses, maples, and grapes. While these beetles may not attract much attention in small numbers, it's crucial to stay vigilant as they can emerge in landscapes, gardens, trees, and row crops.
