The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) is strongly recommending the public reduce their exposure to pesticides wherever possible, based on the findings of its second comprehensive review of research on the effects of pesticides on human health.

Re: the issue of pesticides coming up again at Kamloops city council.

The British Columbia Special Committee on Pesticides studied the issue of urban pesticide use extensively and came to the conclusion that the current regulatory system in place protects people, animals and the environment. Therefore British Columbians should be able to continue to buy and use approved pesticides, as the study wisely pointed out.

EPA Denies Petition on 2,4-D Pesticide

In a petition filed on November 6, 2008, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) requested that EPA cancel all product registrations and revoke all tolerances (legal residue limits in food) for the pesticide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, or 2,4-D. After considering public comment received on the petition and all the available studies, EPA is denying the request to revoke all tolerances and the request to cancel all registrations.
