The Annual General Meeting of the Western Canada Turfgrass Association will be held during our 53rd Annual Conference and Trade Show being held at the Whistler Conference Center in Whistler, British Columbia:

Most WCTA members know that our long time administrative assistant, Viola Freer, made a family move to Prince George and as of July 2012 is no longer working with our association.
To fill the ever important role of Administrative Assistant, we have since brought on Leslie Carnell who graduated from the Kwantlen University turf program, works at the Rupert Park Pitch and Putt in Vancouver and who you may have met at the registration desk at our 2010 and/or 2012 conferences.

It is with great sadness that we wish to inform you that our dear friend and colleague, Jim Dafoe, Superintendent, Fairwinds Golf Course, passed away on Sunday evening, October 7th, due to complicatons from the cancer he was struggling with for the past several months.
The CGSA Fall Field Day (FFD) was held September 15-17 in Osoyoos and Oliver, BC with the main event staged at the Nk’Mip (pronounced Inkameep) Canyon Desert Golf Course, host superintendent Ken Bruneski.
Usually a sell-out, this year’s FFD didn’t quite reach capacity but it did see superintendents gather from across the country to take part in an educational/networking seminar and golf tournament that is the national championship for golf course superintendents.

Same Golf Course, Same Day
To say the Canadian climate is harsh wouldn’t surprise most canucks, but sometimes even we get wowed by our winter weather. Take for example the following two photos from Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops, BC, both taken on May 9th, 2012 by Superintendent, Keith Lyall.
