Patrick Dooley Memorial Golf Tournament

15.10.14-KPU.Turf.Club.logoPatrick Dooley was a successful student athlete whose passion was golf. He had hoped to pursue a career in the golf industry, and was already a member at Mayfair Lakes Golf Course, but unfortunately passed away at the age of 16 after a short illness. 

The Patrick Dooley Memorial Endowment fund has been set up to provide funds for a deserving student to study a golf-related discipline in his memory.

I started my career in turf management while in high school, my first job was at Cultus Lake Golf Club as a range boy. At the time it was just a part time job. I hadn’t yet realized that it would one day become my career path. If I was told that one day I would move to New Jersey, to work on one of most historic courses in the game of golf, I would have thought that was impossible.

It has been a wonderful and productive year for Golf Course Management in Alberta, and for Olds College.   As we come to a predictable end of an exceptionally long growing season (which began in mid-March) that followed a very mild winter, many courses are finishing up their winterization programs with smiles on their faces and money in the bank.
