The 2nd ever, TurfUnderResearchField Day (TURF Day), hosted by the Prairie Turfgrass Research Centre (PTRC) in Olds, AB, saw a marked improvement in attendance over the 2015 inaugural event with over 100 delegates present and the addition of a supplier trade show.

Since 2013, twelve field trials have taken place focusing on managing Microdochium patch on annual bluegrass putting greens in the absence of fungicides. Trials have included the use of nitrogen, phosphite, iron sulfate, sulfur, horticulture oils, biological control products, and cultural practices.
One of the primary mandates of the Western Canada Turfgrass Association, along with many of our allied groups, is to foster turfgrass research for the betterment of the entire sports turf and golf course management industry.
The Northwest Turfgrass Association donated $41,000 to worthy turfgrass research and education programs in 2017 as it continues to be a leading benefactor for the golf industry in the Northwest. Over the past three years, the NTA has donated more than $150,000 to various programs.
